The Mysterious Real Neat Blog Award

The Mysterious Real Neat Blog Award Challenge

Hello there my lovely virtual Goddesses and Gods! Believe it or not, this post has nothing to do with Second Life®. It is about a mysterious, elusive and simultaneously not-so-elusive creature called the Real Neat Blog Award.

I have come across many blogs that were nominated to receive the Real Neat Blog Award. This is a daisy chain award, so it’s easy to come across, hence the ‘not-so-elusive’ descriptor. One of the rules for the award is to nominate 7 other bloggers to receive the award, who nominate 7 others, and so on down the line. The recipient answers 7 questions posed by their nominator, and then writes 7 questions to ask the folks they are nominating in their turn. Why the ‘elusive’ descriptor, you ask? Fear not, I get to that later in this post.

I read the 7 questions answered by one of the blogs I follow – here is her post: Wandering Soul. I liked the questions, thought they were fun and relevant to a virtual being, and so I decided to write my own post hijacking answering those questions. My post is just a post. There is no Real Neat Blog Award awarded here, this is just for fun.

7 Questions

If you could be any fictional character, who would you be?
This one is easy. I *am* a fictional character! My name is Prettyflower Vale. And that is who I choose to be 🙂

Where would be your dream place to live?
This one is easy too. My dream place to live is in the beautiful Fires of Mischief sim in Second Life®. In fact, it’s a dream come true, as I currently live there, woohoo! Fires of Mischief will be open to the public on Jan. 1, 2016.

What is your favorite food?
My favorite food is the kind that doesn’t involve the systemic torture and killing of living, breathing, feeling beings: vegan. I do love home cooking, Thai food, homemade pizza (with vegan Daiya brand cheese, which ROCKS), fresh organic veggies and leafy greens.

What is your favorite movie?
I have many, but if I am forced to choose only one, it will forever be Star Wars (episode IV).

If you could step into a book and have a conversation with a character, who would it be and what would you say?
The Hobbit, Thranduil, “your place or mine?”  Naturally. Heehee!
Ok I admit it, this is influenced by the movie. For books, when I was a teen it was Lord of the Rings and Legolas, these days it’s probably Doyle, also known as The Darkness, from the Merry Gentry series. Same question, “your place or mine?” 😍

If you could buy any pet, what would it be, what would it look like and what would it be called?
It would be an adopted rescue dog or cat or several. Currently I have a rescued from a kill shelter cat with an Elvish name, a dog that came to me as a stray puppy crying under my windowsill who is named after a character in Lord of the Rings, and another dog who came to me when she was found as an abandoned puppy crying under a bush in the desert, who was named after a departed loved one.

What’s your favorite book ever?
I don’t have one favorite book ever. There are many I love. I love a good series of stories. Faves include The Foundation Series (and pretty much every story written) by Isaac Asimov , Harry Potter series by J.K. RowlingAnita Blake and Merry Gentry series, both (can you say steamy?) by Laurell K. Hamilton , Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien, Vampire Chronicles and The Mayfair Witches series by Anne Rice, and Songs of Fire and Ice by George R.R. Martin. I also love short stories, and have many science fiction short story anthologies in my  collection.

1 Question

And now we get to the promised why the ‘elusive,’ which I will turn into one question (challenge, really) for you:

Where did the Real Neat Blog Award originate?
The last rule in the Real Neat Blog Award rules is:

Display the logo somewhere on your blog – only if you want to. It’s an award! (Found that rule on the creator’s original post)

I pay particular attention to the (Found that rule on the creator’s original post) bit. In fact, I tried to find the creator and their original post. I googled “Real Neat Blog Award” and “Real Neat Blog Award Origin” and got about 260,000 results. Needless to say, I did not look at every result. BUT I looked at many, many, many of these results and they were all posts that had received a nomination and then nominated others. They all had the rules dutifully posted. Not one had a link to this mysterious, alleged creator or their original post.

Elusive Award Shrug
Prettyflower stops baking Yule cookies long enough to search for the elusive award, even consulting her blue crystal ball, all to no avail.

The  Challenge

Bring me a shrubbery. Hahahaha just kidding! The challenge is:

Find the original creator and post of the Real Neat Blog Award and in the comments provide a link to the original post, made by the original creator.

The Prize

Should you this challenge be successfully met, the first person who posts the link to the original poster and post of the Real Neat Blog Award will receive as a prize a beautiful and real neat jewelry set – the lovely vines and berries head piece and necklace shown in the photos above and below.

headpiece and necklace prize
This lovely silver ivy headpiece and necklace set are the prize for the one who can find me the elusive shrubbery. These items look just as good on males as they do on females. So no excuses, guys!

What are you waiting for? Go get me that shrubbery! And if you feel the urge to answer these questions in your own post just for fun by all means do so. Please give a pingback to this post, or leave a link to your post in the comments below so we can have fun reading your answers!

Got Thoughts? Please share them 😊. I love to hear your ideas and suggestions for new realms to visit!
